Am Montag konnten wir unseren ersten Piloten im Change(K)now-Projekt abschließen.
Seit dem 6. Januar 2025 testete die Kantine der Berufsschule 32 als unser erster Pilot Mehrweg-Becher und -Bowls für die Ausgabe von Heißgetränken und Speisen.
Zu Beginn des Piloten im Januar waren wir bereits vor Ort und haben die Schüler*innen zu ihren Einstellungen, Bedürfnissen und Wünschen rund um eine Umstellung ihrer Schulkantine auf Mehrweg befragt. Nach drei Monaten Testphase besuchten wir die Berufsschule 32 am Montag erneut und wollten von den Schüler*innen wissen: Wie war es? Habt ihr die Mehrwegbecher und -schalen genutzt? Und was können wir noch verbessern? Zusätzlich haben wir die Kantinenchefin Sabine Salphie und die beiden Nachhaltigkeitsbeauftragten der BS32 nach ihren Erfahrungen aus den drei Monaten Mehrweg befragt. Eine wissenschaftliche Auswertung der Umfragen und Interviews wird nun von unserem Projektpartner Universität Kiel im Rahmen des Projektes durchgeführt. Wir sind bereits gespannt auf die Ergebnisse!
So viel können wir schon sagen: Die ersten Rückmeldungen waren positiv. Insbesondere die Mehrwegbecher im Pfandsystem wurden von den Schüler*innen gut angenommen. Das Beste: Mehrweg konnte überzeugen! Auch nach unserem Piloten soll es an der BS32 keine Einwegbecher mehr geben.

Change(K)now! – Completion of the first pilot at vocational school BS 32

On Monday, we completed our first pilot in the Change(K)now project.

Since 6 January 2025, the canteen at vocational school 32 has been testing reusable cups and bowls for serving hot drinks and food as our first pilot.

At the beginning of the pilot in January, we were already on site and asked the students about their needs and wishes regarding a switch to reusable containers in their school canteen. After three months of testing, we visited vocational school 32 again and wanted to know from the students: How was it? Did you use the reusable cups and bowls? And what can we improve? We also asked the canteen manager Sabine Salphie and the two sustainability teachers at vocational school 32 about their experiences from the three months of reusable use. A scientific analysis of the surveys and interviews is now being carried out by our project partner Kiel University as part of the project. We are already looking forward to the results!

We can already say this much: the initial feedback has been positive. In particular, the reusable cups in the deposit system were well received by the students. Best of all: reusable was a hit! Even after our pilot, there will be no more disposable cups at BS32.

Change(K(now)! project is co-funded by Interreg Baltic Sea Region. The project’s main objective is a mindset change from single-use to circular or multiple-use of food delivery system in cities and residents of the Baltic Sea Region.
